Electricals

A vehicle’s electrical system is responsible for transferring electrical current from the battery all the way to the electrical components and parts in the vehicle. From the power to the windshield wipers to the headlights and tail lights, audio system and much more.

Lamps: The lamps in a vehicle are located in the headlight and taillight assembly. They play a role in illuminating dark areas for better visibility and safety. The tail lamps act as a warning sign for rear vehicles especially when the brake light are on, communicating to drivers that they must maintain a safe distance. There are lamps to illuminate the cabins, turn signals, etc.

Batteries & Cables:  Vehicle battery is the part that stores electrical energy and supplies that to various parts in the vehicle that require it. The cables made from copper wires supply power from the battery to the electrical parts throughout the vehicle. Keeping the battery in good condition is very important for the overall health of the vehicle. Over the years the condition of the cables can wear out and may require replacement.

Meters: The meters in the vehicle provide vital information to the driver. The meters include the speedometer, and the RPM meter. Depending on the vehicle type this may vary. The meters are housed in the dashboard of the vehicle. Due to various driving conditions and poor upkeep of the vehicle, they may be subjected to wear and tear which in turn will result in them being non-operational.

Switches & Relays: In vehicles the relay and switch are electronically operated. They are designed to mechanically manoeuvre a switch to make or break an electrical circuit using an electromagnet device. The relay looks like a small cube but has a big role in the overall functioning of the vehicle.

Wipers: The vehicle’s wipers are located on the windshield of both front and rear of the vehicle. They are operated from the steering wheel switch. Wipers like the name suggests is used to clean the windshield and increase visibility especially during monsoon season or dust storms and more. Over time and due to exposure to the sun, the conditions of the wipers deteriorate and will require replacement.

Audio: The audio system in the vehicle is usually located next to the dashboard. It is the unit that is connected to the speakers in the vehicle. It is a source of entertainment for occupants of the vehicle. Depending on the vehicle, the type of audio system will vary.  We nowadays have much improved Audio system that includes navigation system, game consoles, etc.

Mirror: The mirrors in the vehicle include the outer side mirrors and the inner rear view mirror. All of them are part of active safety component of the vehicle due to their usability. They offer a clear view of objects that may not usually be visible to the driver from the inside. Especially during changing lanes while driving or avoiding blind spot visibility or even getting a clear view of objects from the rear view mirror when parking.

Air Conditioner & Heater: In order to maintain cabin temperature as per occupant’s requirement, air conditioning and heater units are provided on almost all vehicles. AC and heater come with large number of components such as compressor, condenser, evaporator, refrigerant, blower fan, etc.
